Richard E. Lord

Richard (“Dick”/ “Rick”) E. Lord, 67, of Braintree, and formerly of Randolph, died on Friday, November 3, following a lengthy illness.
Richard grew up in Randolph, graduating from Archbishop Williams High School, Braintree. He enjoyed learning throughout his life, attaining a number of degrees concentrated in Engineering, including a BSME degree from Northeastern University, Boston, an MBA degree from Syracuse University, an MSEE degree from Rensselaer University, an MSSE degree from Boston University, and a JD degree from New England School of Law. He was also an attorney licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
His career as an engineer was spent with Ingersoll-Rand in Athens, PA and subsidiaries in Windsor, CT and Woburn, MA for 20 years in different positions, including Director of Product Design and Development. Richard also worked several years with General Electric in Burlington, MA. He then started his own business, PTEC, in 1998, with offices in Braintree and in Shanghai and Huludao City, China, and then in Luzhu City, Taiwan, focusing on the design and development of software and turbomachinery, and in assisting American, Chinese, and Taiwanese companies in establishing cooperative working arrangements. Due to failing health Richard had to close these offices in 2007. He also enjoyed spending his leisure time in Center Conway, N.H. and time anywhere with his family.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Rose (Cullen) Lord, his beloved daughters Diane Woodward and her husband Timothy Woodward of Canton, and Kathleen Barber and her husband Robert Barber of E. Bridgewater, and two cherished grandchildren, Rachel and Emily Barber.
