Monica M. (McElhinney) Scanlan, of Holbrook, passed away July 15, 2017 at the age of 80. Born in Boston to James and Monica (Flood) McElhinney, Monica was raised in Roxbury and graduated from Mission High School. She enjoyed quilting, baking, sewing, and gardening.
Beloved wife of John T. “Jack†Scanlan. Loving mother of Monica Scanlan of Washington, NH, Janet Scanlan-Donnelly of Taunton and John Scanlan of E. Bridgewater, Dear sister of the late James, Owen, and Gerald McElhinney and Eileen MacDonald. Cherished grandmother of Shawn, Erin, and Kelly.
Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37) Holbrook on Thursday, July 20th at 9:45am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Holbrook at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday, July 19th from 4-8pm. Interment at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Monica’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 or Seasons Hospice, 1 Edgewater Dr., Ste. 103, Norwood, MA 02062.

So many memories flood back when I think of Auntie Monica. I wish I could be there this week. That picture of our Moms together as little girls, then again as older women. I can't help but think they're sitting there in that same pose now. But no, they're playing poker with the whole Flood gang :) :)
