Helen R. (Wynn) Waugaman

Helen “Sugie” R. (Wynn) Waugaman, age 91, of Holbrook, formerly of South Boston and Dorchester, passed away on January 5, 2017, beloved wife of the late Robert A. Waugaman. She leaves a void that will never be filled in the lives of her children, Karen Merriam and her husband John of Franklin, Barbara Smith and her husband, Christopher of Chelmsford, Julie Fitzgerald Pappas and her husband, Thomas of Sharon, David Fitzgerald and his wife Gloria-Jean of East Taunton, and Lori Martin and her husband, Edward of Canton. Loving sister of the late Marie Dupont and the late Walter Wynn, Richard Wynn, and James Wynn, best friend and sister of Louise Greeley. Sugie adored her nine grandchildren, Johnny, Chris, Aimee, Elizabeth, Lauren, Zach, Ryan, Hailey and Abigail.

She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Sugie spent over 40 years as a nursing assistant beginning in Labor & Delivery at St. Margaret’s Hospital and continued her career as a devoted, generous caretaker and staunch advocate for the elderly in the nursing homes where she worked. She was a voracious reader, a wonderful cook and loved travelling and spending time with her family, particularly dining out and playing poker.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Holbrook on Thursday, January 12th at 12pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans. Interment MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Arrangements handled by the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37).

Dave and Family. I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother. She sounded like one amazing woman with a strong love of family and advocacy for those in need. What s long and wonderful life. You are in my prayers.

David and Family, I'm sorry for your loss. I didn't know her. However, from the kindness that her son David displays on a daily basis, I know in my heart she was a wonderful lady. May God be with you and your family.
