I got to know Jim through baseball and we played together for many years. Not only was he one heck of a ball player but also a real stand up guy. He earned and deserved our respect both as a person and player. I can recall his smile and sense of pride when he talked about his family and just how much his family meant to him.

He was the type of person anyone could talk to and he would make you feel like you were a long time friend. A true "good guy" and someone I will always remember.

I will miss you my friend.

With such a heavy heart I offer my deepest condolences to the Costa family. Jimmy, or "JC" as I called him will be greatly missed. I had the pleasure of working with him at New England Coffee as his inside sales person. No matter what was happening with the hustle and bustle of work he took the time to stop and say hello. He will always smile and make me smile. I got to ride with him several times in Boston on his route. Laughing and joking, making his customers feel comfortable. RIP JC. Proud to have you as a friend. 🙏

My deepest sympathy for your loss. I got to know Jim when he would drive me to my treatments to Beth Israel for several months. During that time, we would mostly talk about our families. When he mentioned his, it was all love and how proud he was of his kids. He always asked me how my treatment went and was so very supportive and kind..I will always remember. Please know how very sorry I am.

It's a hard to believe Jim is gone. We'll all miss him dearly. I played baseball with him for several years and always looked forward to his good humor, easygoing nature and friendly smile. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was one of the first guys to pick you up when you were down. In so many ways, he was the glue that kept the many and varying personalities on our team together.

He also saved our bacon many times on the field, especially fromthe mound.

Rest in peace, my friend. I'll miss you.

Dear Denise, I am sooo very sorry about the sudden passing of our beloved Jimmy. I was at Stonehill with Jim. I had never actually seen any baseball game live, until he was a senior. It was to see my bud, that i ventured over to the field. I was not disappointed and hold that memory dear. He was a good man. I hope you join us on a New Years Day for pizza, with Paul and Lee. My prayers are with you and your cherubs. God bless you all. Jimmy is now a big brown eyed angel on our shoulders. With love and sympathies, Annie
