Roy A. Conrad Jr

Roy A Conrad Jr. a lifelong resident of Randolph (a True Townie) passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2016. Roy passed surrounded by his loving family and two very special friends after a courageous and inspiring three year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a graduate of the Randolph High school class of 1960. A true entrepreneur he owned and operated Conrad's Supermarket, Conrad's Variety and M & R Limousine Service, all in his beloved town of Randolph. His love of New Hampshire and real estate also led him to owning and operating a couple of businesses in the Lakes Region. He was a sitting member and past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Randolph Savings Bank, a former member of the Board of Directors of Central Cemetery and a dedicated proud and loyal employee of Hurley Funeral Home for nearly two decades. Never one to sit still Roy loved roaming yard sales, flea markets and fairs with his wife, children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to family vacations, enjoyed swimming and that occasional run to Foxwoods. Many family members were the happy recipients of the fruits of his gardening labors and skill. Most of all, he just enjoyed meeting and talking with people. On the rare occasion that he would actually sit still he enjoyed sitting on his balcony overlooking Nantasket Beach.

Roy leaves his beloved wife of 40 years, Helen (Baird) Conrad and his loving children Michael Conrad and his wife Traci of Stoughton, Roy Conrad of Randolph, Jeanmarie Allar and her husband Dan of Whitman and Debbie Conrad of MI. Devoted Brother of Sandra Durand and her husband David of Abington, Robert Conrad of Randolph and Richard Conrad and his wife Marie of Randolph. Dear grandfather of Justin, Michael, Brayden and Avery. Proud uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main Street (Rt 28), Randolph on Thursday, April 21st at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Bernadette's Church in Randolph at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday, April 20th from 4-8pm. Internment Central Cemetery, Randolph. If desired, donations in Roy's memory can be made to the Jimmy Fund Walk-Roy's Team at www.jimmyfundwalk.org, select "support a Team" and then select "Roy's Team".

Dear Helen and family, we continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers. Our lives will never be the same without Roy being here. He was always such a gentleman and the one I most look forward to catching up with at our reunions. From first grade to graduation he was always part of my life even though we only reconnected at reunion it was barely skipping a beat to catch up. What an honor to have known him all these years, what a gift he was for all of us in the class of 60. We know he is at peace having served well in life. Feel our hugs as we remember the love of your life. Paul and Arlene (McKenzie) McNulty.

Helen and Family,
Roy will be missed by many. He typified the American Way. Growing up in Randolph and being so involved in his community, Roy was an example to all of the way life in the United States of America should be. With all the craziness in this country and the world today, Roy and the way he lived his life brought some sanity to us.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Helen and family,
So sorry to learn of Roy's passing. I shall never forget our many morning talks when I was leaving for work. So many good laughs and snowmobile gab sessions. He was a good next door (store) neighbor. Our families, his parents and mine, shared many moments together when we were children growing up. We had many good times. God be with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Sue Fraser

Dear Conrad Family,

So sorry for your loss may Roy rest in peace.

I have known Roy since I was real little and he always had a huge smile on his face. I got to know him and his family more as they came to shop at Sudbury Farms on the weekends. He was one of my favorite customers that would stop and say hello every time I was working. He was a great man that will truly be missed.

Sincerely,
Danielle Rood

Conrad Family,
You don't need me to tell you how wonderful Roy was. He impacted so many lives, mine was no exception. I knew him practically my whole life -- I worked for him for years at both the Supermarket and the variety store -- he was great to work for. I was so disappointed when I could no longer juggle a career and -my part-time job. Roy was an amazing Boss and Friend and I will always remember him fondly.
Condolences,
Margaret Gazzara Hess
