Ronald F. Munafo Sr

Ronald F Munafo Sr, 83 of Jamaica Plain then Randolph MA passed away on April 26,2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Ron was born September 4, 1940 to Leo & Ida Munafo in Boston MA. After graduating from Boston Technical high school Ron began a long career at Boston Gear works as a machinist. He also served 7 years in the US National Guard during this time.

Ron’s passion was music. He began play guitar & singing as a teenager. In his early years he played in a number of bands then throughout the years had a 2nd career playing weddings and most any type of function party. Later in life he would play his guitar or mandolin in senior centers & nursing homes.

In 1962 Ron married Helen Pernell. They went on to have 5 children, Leona, Ronald Jr, Regina, Paula, Paul.

After retiring from Boston Gear he started a 2nd career as a school bus driver for the town of Braintree. He throughly enjoyed interacting with the kids, both driving them to & from school as well as sports activities.

Ron was a long time active member of the Randolph Knights of Columbus as well as the Braintree Sons of Italy. To say Ron was proud of his Italian heritage would be an understatement.

Ron was predeceased by his wife Helen, his parents Leo & Ida, his brother Richard & his wife Karen, and his son Paul. He is survived by his sister and her husband Patricia and Paul Obin, daughter Leona Henderson, son Ronald Jr & his wife Kathleen, Daughter Regina Solomon, Daughter Paula & her husband Mike StCyr, his 12 grandchildren Heather, Michael, Amanda, Leo, Matthew, Anthony, Nicholas, Victoria, Sarah, Christian, Tyler, Trevor and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Wednesday, May 1st at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary Church in Randolph at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 30th from 4-7pm. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph.

Our condolences. He will be missed. I'm glad I had a chance to spend time with him in his last days on earth. He was a great inspiration on me.

I am truly sorry for your loss
I'm sure your dad will be missed by all. I was lucky to have the opportunity to meet him. What a nice person he was. I'm sure he will truly be missed.
