Lillian T. (Mulhern) Barry

Lillian T. (Mulhern) Barry, 91, of Norwell, Massachusetts, passed away April 13, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

She was born to the late James and Jeannette C. Mulhern in Boston. Lillian moved to Holbrook in 1940 and graduated from Holbrook High School in 1950.

She married her high school sweetheart J. Leo Barry, Jr., in 1954, in Holbrook and joined him at Fort Carson in Colorado. They returned to Massachusetts in 1955 and over the next 43 years Lillian raised their family and was active in the community of Whitman before moving to Norwell.

She is survived by Michael Barry and his wife Karen, of Duxbury; Gregg Barry and his wife Amy, of Long Island City, NY; Lisa (Barry) Lyons, and her husband James of Norwell, her daughter-in-law and beloved companion, Lisa Ann Barry of Whitman and daughter-in-law Cresca Barry of Peterborough, NH. She was the proud Nana to 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Sadly, Lillian was predeceased by her eldest son Mark of Hancock, NH.

She has a long legacy of community service. During her years in the town of Whitman she served as a member of the Board of Selectmen, School Committee, Finance Committee, Parent Teacher’s Association, Whitman School Study Committee, Middle School Building Committee, and The Arts Council. She volunteered at the Cardinal Cushing School. She was a member of The Holy Ghost Church in Whitman.

Mrs. Barry was a lovely woman. She and my Mom (Marge Adams) were best of friends. They would sit in our kitchen for hours talking and drinking tea. Sorry for your loss.
