Paul R. Hunt

Paul Richard Hunt, 67, of Brockton, MA, passed away on March 24, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1956, in Somerville. Paul was raised in Holbrook and graduated from Holbrook High School and later attended Massasoit Community College. He served 5 years in the Marine Corps and was a lifelong "Proud Marine." He delivered mail for the USPS in Holbrook for 20 years. He endured a courageous battle against Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for 27 years.

Paul, affectionately known as "Hunta," was well known for his involvement in sports, particularly as an umpire for Holbrook men's softball and as a baseball coach for the Brookfield and Holbrook Little Leagues. He was a diehard Boston sports fan and avid collector of Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics memorabilia.

He was a competitive candlepin bowler and also enjoyed golf, fishing, darts, pool, and ping pong. He was a familiar face on "Jock Talk," a popular show on public access TV. His love for sports extended to his role as an umpire and coach, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Paul was a great friend to those who knew him. His family was everything to him, especially his grandchildren who he adored.

Paul Hunt is survived by his siblings William Hunt, Cathy Chaisson, David Hunt, Bernard Strickland, Paula Hunt, his children Melissa Cromack, Brendan Lucier, Paul Hunt and wife Nicole, Ty Hunt and partner Hailey, stepson Derek Mckenna and wife Jill and 9 beloved grandchildren; Ayden, Zachary, Travis, Owen, Jaxon, Sophia, Jace, Lucy and Sky, as well as many nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Paul J. Hunt, mother Catherine Lucy (Camacho) Hunt, brother Mark Hunt, and nephews Bobby Chaisson and Nikolas Casna.

A memorial service will be held on April 20, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church, S. Franklin St., Holbrook, MA, followed by a graveside military tribute at Union Cemetery in Holbrook. A celebration of life will be held in the function hall at Players in Rockland, MA from 1-4 p.m.

I remember my step-father away spoke of good words with Paul...two pass Marine Guys....my prays
