Rui Rodrigues
Rui Rodrigues, age 61, died peacefully in his home on November 1st, 2022 while holding the hands of his wife and daughter and surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
Rui was born on March 13, 1961 in Mosteiros Fogo, Cape Verde to Avelino Rodrigues and Brazia Andrade. At the age of 18, he served in the military in Cape Verde for five years. He immigrated to the United States in 1983 and began working in food services. In pursuit of his ambition, he progressed to Hospitality Management where he worked for several years. Rui then found his passion as an independent contractor and spent over 15 years renovating older homes and turning them into beautiful restorative properties. Rui was also happily married to his wife, Maria (Dirce), who was his partner in life for almost 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, five children (Melissa, Edson, Kerlin, Timothy, and Melinda), ten grandchildren, seven siblings, and numerous others. He is predeceased by his mother, father, and sister.
Rui found joy in spending quality time with his loving family and close friends. He spent most of his life helping others, working hard, telling amazing stories, listening to music, dancing, and attending events. He loved trying new restaurants, cooking, traveling, playing cards, and watching movies.
Rui was a truly wonderful and strong man. He had a giving heart, generous spirit, and infectious personality. He spent his lifetime providing for his family. He was more than just a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. Rui was an angel on earth, specially handcrafted by God to leave an everlasting impression in our hearts. He was loved by many and he will be missed dearly.
Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Thursday, November 10th, 2022 at 9:30am followed by a funeral mass at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Randolph at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, November 9th from 4-8pm. Interment Central Cemetery, Randolph.
