Dorothy A. (Pratt Smith) Fitzgerald

Dorothy A. (Pratt) (Smith) Fitzgerald, of Seabrook, NH, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2021, at the age of 89. Daughter of the late Grace E. (Price) (Pratt) Gudnosky and Louie E. Pratt, she was born in Weymouth, MA. She attended Holbrook Public Schools and went on to raise her family in Holbrook, MA. In the 1970’s, she moved to Salisbury, MA, and ultimately lived in Seabrook, NH until her death. Dorothy was a retired employee of Gould, Inc. She was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 70 in New Hampshire and enjoyed her time serving as chaplain. An avid genealogist, Dorothy found great joy in researching her lineage back to the 1620 voyage of the Mayflower. In 1997, she became a proud and active member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in New Hampshire, having proven her bloodline ancestry as a tenth-generation descendant from Mayflower passenger Degory Priest. Dorothy was the wife of the late James A. Fitzgerald and the late Donald P. Smith. She was the loving mother of Marjorie E. Godfrey and her husband, James, of Holbrook, MA, and the late Donald P. Smith, Jr. She leaves behind a brother, William Pratt, husband of Kathleen of Holbrook, MA, and was predeceased by her sister, Marjorie L. Seaquist. She also leaves step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends. The family would like to express its appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Laurelwood unit at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center, in Norwell, MA for the kind and compassionate care they gave Dorothy during her stay there. Dorothy will be laid to rest at the Hillside Cemetery, Seabrook, NH. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 15th at 11: 00 a.m.

So sorry to just realize that my Aunt Dottie is gone. She and my Uncle Jimmy have special spots in my heart. I enjoyed many Friday nights stopping at their place when I was commuting from RI to NH in college. And Dot and Jim spent many holidays with us over the years.
uncle Jimmy was a second father to me and Dot was a wonderful wife, aunt and friend. Her mind was sharp even when her body had problems. And she was always strong through the toughest of times.
I loved her dearly. May she rest in peace. ❤️❤️❤️
